nüvi 1440’s PhotoReal™ junction view provides a realistic reproduction of road signs and junctions along your route, with stunning landscape detail for exceptional clarity down to the exact trees and pylons! With Lane Assist, there’s no more guessing which lane you need to be in at upcoming exits and junctions – nüvi uses arrows to indicate the proper lane for navigation. So there’s no need to panic, hesitate or make last-minute lane changes, even on unfamiliar routes.

nüvi 1440 comes with Garmin’s unique Cyclops™ speed cameras built in, giving real-time, direction-relevant and accurate alerts, with overspeed warning and speed limit information as you approach one of hundreds of fixed, mobile, variable limit and temporary speed cameras. New or moved cameras are constantly tracked and Cyclops updates its central database daily.

nüvi 1440 helps you save fuel and money with ecoRoute™ - Garmin’s innovative green feature that calculates the most fuel-efficient route, tracks fuel usage and more. You can choose to take the “less fuel” option as a routing preference and when selected, nüvi will determine if a more fuel efficient route exists based upon road speed and vehicle acceleration data. ecoRoute helps you develop more efficient driving habits, calculates trip cost and enables accurate expense reporting too.

With its pedestrian navigation capabilities and sleek design, nüvi 1440 is the perfect travel companion in and out of the car. Download optional cityXplorercontent and navigate new cities like a local. Garmin’s enhanced pedestrian mode gives you directions for walking including footpaths and shortcuts through parks – places you wouldn’t be accessing while in your car. It also tells you where to catch trains, buses and tubes (dependent on the city) and how long it will take to reach your destination. cityXplorer even contains public transport timetables to ensure you arrive at the station on time and help avoid long waits (dependent on the city).

nüvi 1440 has an intuitive interface that greets you with two simple questions: "Where To?" and "View Map." Touch the 5-inch super-wide colour screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions with spoken street names for extra route awareness - no need to look at the sat nav screen.

It comes preloaded with City Navigator® NT street maps for Western Europe (24 countries), preloaded points of interest (POIs) and speed limits for most major roads. With 1440's extra-large display, you get over-sized on-screen buttons and larger icons for even greater clarity. You also can upload custom points of interest (POIs) for your favourite destinations. And with HotFix® satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

The Where am I? emergency locator is a safety feature that can be very helpful if you break down or need a local service urgently. Simply tap the car icon on the map screen to view your exact coordinates, address and junction, contact details for vehicle recovery services and get directions to your nearest hospitals, police and petrol stations.

Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 1440 features many travel tools, including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. With photo navigation, you can download location-tagged pictures from Garmin Connect™ Photos and navigate straight to the scene – ideal for getting to places without an address such as a landmark or informal meeting place or for recreating a memorable holiday or road trip.
